The pastoral council is responsible for the overall pastoral development of the parish. The council’s role is to promote pastoral activity, using the parish Mission Statement as its guide. The council discerns the needs of the parish community, develops strategies and calls forth resources to respond to those needs. The Pastoral Council assists, supports and makes recommendations to the various working committees, groups and organizations of the parish.
The finance council oversees the general financial health of the parish, distributes funds as required, reviews spending on behalf of other parish committees, submits reports as required, and produces an annual budget. The Council works with the Pastoral Council to implement the mission of the parish.
Buildings and Grounds Committee
The buildings and grounds committee is a group of professionals that reviews building operations and procedures and oversees the duties of our custodian. The Committee also reviews the condition of the physical property, prepares a yearly budget to include the cost of all anticipated maintenance and repair work, completes emergency repairs and advises Parish Council on building and grounds issues. Involves carpentry, church cleaning, electrical work, lawn care, painting, plant & shrubbery care, plumbing work, and sound systems/electronics.
The cathechetics committee plans, supports and co-ordinates religious education programs and activities in collaboration with the Pastoral Associate responsible for Catechetics.
Facilities Management Committee
The Facilities Management Committee monitors the use of the facilities and related procedures and policies.
The liturgy committee assists the Pastor in the coordination, planning, development and promotion of the worship of God and the prayer life in our church community. The committee meets monthly and coordinates all of the liturgical celebrations for the parish. It is also responsible for anticipating and developing new methods and approaches in order to meet the liturgical needs of the parish.
Musicians play an essential role in the work of God in the liturgy. The Music Committee supports the role of the musician in helping to plan and select appropriate music for our liturgical celebrations. It provides a forum for supporting, educating and enhancing the skills of those involved in the ministry of music.
Social Justice Committee
The social justice committee endeavours to raise awareness of social justice issues, and when and where possible, takes action to help improve situations of need in the local community as well as in Third World countries. Members believe
in “the value and dignity of the human person and the recognition of us all as
children of God.”
Development and Peace, is part of the Social Justice Committee, is an organization created by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. Its purpose is to come to the aid of the oppressed and impoverished people of the world and to educate Canadians about the problems of under-development. It works to fulfill its mandate in the belief that we are all called to be good stewards of what God has created and to ensure that all people have a just share of God’s abundance.
The stewardship committee promotes stewardship as a way of life, inviting the parish community to journey together in faith through conversion and participation in the spirituality of stewardship. Stewardship encourages parishioners to reflect on their God-given talents and invites the parish community to give of their time, talent and treasure, without expectation of return. Committee members promote stewardship through modeling a Christ-centered way of life and facilitating the integration of stewardship concepts in parish activities.
