Catechetic SESSIONS: 

Sessions for year levels Primary to 5 will be held on Sunday mornings from 10:05 -10:55 am. Sessions for year levels 6-9 will take place on Sunday evenings beginning with Mass at 6:00 and concluding at 8:30 pm.  All sessions begin September 19^th.

Saint Benedict Parish is creating a Youth Group for youth in Grade 10 and up. If you are interested in becoming a Youth Leader please contact the Catechetical Office. 

Passing on the Faith to the children of our community is an important and very rewarding responsibility. The best way to teach discipleship is to be a disciple. Interested in joining our Saint Benedict Catechetical Team or Committee?

Catechetics Ministry

Catechetical Committee – Role:

To assist in the planning and preparation of catechetical activities and events

Encourage participation in workshops and promote educational opportunities for the Catechetical Team

 

To support our families with changes and transitioning

 

Time Commitment:

Meeting attendance, meetings are usually every 8-10 weeks unless specific events are being held that require the Committee’s support sooner then the next meeting date - Assistance with Catechetical parties, retreats and special events

Catechetical Team :

Members of our Parish community responding to God’s call to ministry within our parish, dedicated to practicing their Catholic Faith and sharing that faith and love with our young people and their families.

- Catechist:

meets with the children each week, passing of the Good News via our Catechetical Program –CCCB Born in the Spirit

- Catechist Assistant

aids the catechist with basic classroom functions

 

- Catechist Substitute

 fills in when regular class catechist is ill or unavailable

- Hall Monitors

ensures children and families know where the classes are, advises children to return to class promptly after washroom visits, distributes and collects attendance sheets

- Hospitality

prepares tea and coffee for parents/guardians in the main hall

 

- Information coordinator

responsible for an information table set up weekly in the hall with registration forms, notices etc., assists families with questions or inquiries, opens and locks up the Ministry Center if Catechetical Coordinator is not available.

- Telephone Support

works as part of a phone team that will call a group of families to notify of class cancellations due to weather or emergencies.
